Nokia 3650 Bluetooth? I'm a newbie with blue tooth

Ok I just got a deal off ebay for a Nokia 3650 cellphone (at&t) for $99.00. I just saved my self from wasting $149.00 (after rebate) at the store. I got this phone to replace my Sprint Samsung N-400, cuz the phone keeps freezing (like Win95) and Sprint sucks.

Anyway I got this new phone and i remember reading something about blue tooth in the car. What exactly is blueth (i shortened Bluetooth to blueth). I've seen it at computer stores for wireless mice/k.boards. And I got a blueth earpiece, which looks really cool, for the nokia. Whats so difference between blueth and my Logitech Wireless mouse/k.board?

Is there blueth software for my nokia 3650?

It also uses mmc cards to store data - mainly mp3s. It comes with a 32meg (wow 32megs on a stamp sized thingy?). So now i can anotherway to transfer mp3s to my car. This is cool cuz some of my friends have mp3 players/pda's which use these cards so we're not stuck listening to only my music in the car.

Anyways this phone is becoming very popular (thnx American idol). And this guy sells them for cheap - $99 off ebay.

Logitech, if I am correct, works on RF, although it has a pretty limited range. Bluetooth is some sort of wireless networking standard, although not like 802.11X. The ultimate idea for it was that your refrigerator, cell phone, microwave, computer, fireplace, etc. could all communicate using the Bluetooth standard.

I have never used it, but I always got the impression that it is still not very useful (still an immature technology) in the real world. I could be wrong about that, but I hope that sheds some light on your questions.

i saw a kid at school with that phone, i really want it.. kinda. for the screen and camera, but it is HUGE and bulky and looks really gay when you're holding it up to your ear. What do you think about it?

edit: i looked at the auction.. i'm confused..

Activation of new wireless account with AT&T Next Generation service applies. Price reflects manufacturer/carrier's $150.00 mail in rebate, however as a part of this promotion your final price is GUARANTEED to be $99.99. This is LOWER than any other seller out there (others selling for $149.99).

Does that mean you gotta sign up through this guy for a new service contract? or can i just buy that phone and call up AT&T and tell them i got a new phone? (too bad it's not tmobile, could just switch teh sim card)

No you have to sign up with At&t. There is no activation fee if i sign up for 2 years, which is cool cuz i get no reception with sprintpcs and i've had them for 3 years.

Yes you can just buy the phone and call up at&t to setup an account

ug, i would hate to have a 2 year contract.. one year is bad enough, i can't wait till my tmobile 1 year is up in a couple months.. Sucks though, i'll probably get stuck in a 2 year is thats the only way to get a decent phone for cheap :-/

Since no one really answered you on this I will tell you. I was looking at this phone too. Also the Sony Ericson 68i(I think that's the model) has bluetooth. Why use bluetooth in a phone? Well there are several things you can do with you phone.

    1. As you already know, you can use the bluetooth hands free adapter. You can have you phone in your pocket and still talk on it. You can even have it on your charger on your desk and talk wirelessly with your phone.

    2. You can, with a PC bluetooth adapter, can sync your phone numbers and appointments and stuff with your mobile phone. You can always have ALL your contacts on your phone and your computer all synced to be the same. You can even get the MS Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard (Best Buy sells them) and use the adapter that comes with this set to connect to your phone.

    3. You can use your bluetooth adapter in your PDA or notebook and use your phone as a modem. Connect and check your email with your cellphone as if you had a regular modem.

I'm sure there are more applications but these are the most apealing to me.
