Sound Card With RCA Outputs?
Hey All,
I am looking for a PCI sound card that has RCA outputs right on the PCI card, digital output is encouraged but not required, and the RCA is obviously analog (it will run right into a standard deck). I dont want a device that fits into my 5.25" drive bay that will provide RCA out's, i need it right on the PCI sound card.
Anyone have any ideas? Budget between $60-$250 US.
Please let me know gnetcomp@home.com

Why not just jump into a local radio shack and get their high quality gold 1/8" stereo to RCA Y adapter?
Without an extra box (like the Live!Drive you said you don't want) I don't think you will find a decent sound card (maybe none at all) with rca outs. Most PC speakers only except 1/8" stereo jacks, therefore most sound cards just have 1/8" outputs with optional drive or breakout boxes with RCAs. A good adapter will do just fine.

Hay just use a regular sound card. You don't need RCA jacks. You can get a cable for a cd player and use that.
Or you can get a cheep RCA cable and cut it in half. Use 2 diferent colors distinguishing left and right and solder it to and extention cable. This cable should be sheilded but a 15' phone line workes fine for me in my room. On the other side of this cable solder on a 1/8th" stereo plug.
About the sound card. I found a cool one for my PC with a digital output called, "Ess Allegro 4 Channel PCI Sound Card". Some cheep off brand (free after rebate). If you can make a cable like the one I talked about above it will sound great!(;
If you can't make a cable then I would not be making an mp3 player. My cable was actually made for my PC bacause I was tired of the crappy speekers on it! My mp3 player took it when my PC donated its old sound card.
Can you describe your project? I don't see why you need a sound card with RCA jacks.

Just get a sound card with digital spdif outputs and use a reciever (home or car) with digital coax inputs. Run one cable for 5.1 channel, pure digital sound, ahhhhhhh. Surround sound games never sounded so damned good.
I used to do something scary. Iput together a cable out of radio shack pieces, The Fraken-cable, that took the two speaker outputs of the SB Live, split, and ran em to the 6 channel input on the back of my old Pro Logic reciever (had to split it in to sub inputs too). If was a big, confusing, ugly thing.... thank god for digital coax
