I just used 12 guage, and you can make it as long as you want.
I know this is a common problem, but I've been experiencing a bad buzz in my sound from my computer. It happens anytime that my computer is turned on. I"m using a inverter wired directly to the battery with 4 guage wire. I'm planning on grounding my case/psu to get rid of the buzz and was wondering what guage wire I need to use. I can make the wire as short as 6 inches. Thank you.

ground it to the same spot as your inverter.

Right now it's grounded to the same spot as the inverter by about 6 feet of dual 16 guage wire. The noise didn't change when I added this. I was reading on some other posts that the ground should be as short as possible, or is that only for the inverter?
Connect a large cap 10000uF or more at the input of the inverter that should help.
naw.. your grounds should try to be under a foot. Do you have any amps? Also you might want to try an alternator noise reducer on your 12v line. If this is an old inverter you might want to try a newer one.

Thanks for the input so far guys. No I don't currently have any amps (hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have one or two or three. My inverter is brand new. I'll try making a new ground line. Does anyone have any more suggestions for the guage of the wire, or does it not really matter since there isn't too much wattage going through an all integrated mobo?

for my inverter i used the same guage as ran into it. I think i used 10 guage. As for my psu, i just used 18 guage.
