    pager mod ?

I was thinking about this idea and I know it has been posted before.
I'm looking around to see if it's possible to hack the pager and how. if it's possible it would be really great.
you can send page to start the car. or in case the car is stolen, page to cut off engin or fuel cut.
I remember there was a pager that can stores the special num. codes that if a friend pages with specific number it shows a graphic. But I forgot what pager it was, if I can find that pager it wouldn't be hard to hack it.
Or if there is someone really good with electronics (not me ) using two way pager to hook up with computer to page back with information such as gps coord. temp. etc.

well two way pager idea is great but that's just idea, but one way pager idea is not that hard to make it possible , don't you think? Does anyone know what kind pager I'm talking about? and is there any webpageabout pager hacking?

Sounds like he means to integrate the pager and the computer in a way that the pager can recieve messages for the PC.
A relay that controls power to the electric fuel pump could be triggered to shut off with a code sent to the pager.

Home automation tools could be the answer to this.... Some of the pacages allow control of your home automation setup via secure webpages, imagine CarAutomation/Security and hackers instead of car thiefs.

well I have a fuel cut solenoid , and this is easy to connect with a relay and signal from a pager.

I think I saw one time fee/unlimited pager service from somewhere (actually from compusa) but I'm looking for a website
Currently I'm not quite sure if this is a possible project , so I'm looking around for more info, any help would be nice

Only issue: what if someone else gets the pager number? Or the phone company pages you (as they used to do with me to remind me to pay)? Could get complicated if you have to start actually reading the LCD of the pager to determine "security" codes to prevent this...

Interesting I was assuming it would be a coded signal.
123-123-1234 with special meaning. I believe you are saying that getting the number (code) out of the pager and into the PC would be tough?

I do not know much about pagers...

well those motorola pagers work like this.
it has special code such as *411 *911 *143 etc
so if someone pages like *1435555551212
it will come out like "I Love You 555-555-1212"
or just *143 shows "I love you"

anyway if there is way to read chartacters from page and connect to relays then I don't think you need toworry about security problem. That's 14 digits (could be more) code.

I don't know how to do it(yet) that's why I was looking for pagers that has private messages, it must send out signal when it gets scpecial code.

well 4digits code is not perfectly safe but if I don't give out my pager # and deactive pager-theft system(either engin cut or fuel cut) when the car door is opened by the alarm(since I have alarm system) I think it would be ok, at least the car won't stop while I'm driving.

And I don't think this needs to be connect to PC I think there is way to make it stand-alone device.

I found one website that might help. but still need more help.

you know Clifford (and others I assume) sell alarm systems that have pager systems that will allow you to monitor your car and cut the engine in case of theft...and all that other features. I don't think I would ever want my computer to control the car. How unreliable is a computer?
    Mine needs to be updated.
