i found out i have a 15-pin connector in the back, can that hook up to lcd screens?

from what i've gathered i can use a vga screen but they seem to be more expensive. there is one connection on the back, and it might be dumb to most of u, but i can't determine what it is, it has 9 pins. also, on the back off the laptop is an infared port, anything i can do with that?

looking at the specs from toshiba, that computer only supports vga-out, so you will either need a vga lcd, or a scan convertor if you plan to connect to a composite lcd
