i got a touch problem
Ok so heres the scoop.
I have a twisted pair wire with a shield running from the computer to the LCD and Touchoverlay. This wire carries the 12vDC for the LCD, the 5 vDC for the touchoverlay, and the shield is the ground for both of these units. My problem started when the connecter I have to connect it to the computer "I'm assuming it came loose" my lcd turned off. So I went back touched it and moved it around, and it came back on. But I lost my touchoverlay. I touch the overlay and the pointer does not follow.
I re-installed the drivers - no joy
I changed the comm port - no joy.
I think I may have messed with the power line and the touch is not recieving any power. Any other thoughts on this probem?
The touch overlay is an ELO Intellitouch.
I have not had time to check the flashing LED in the controller, this happend just as I was comming into work.
Any help is great.:)
Those two using the same ground may have been a problem. I'm no expert but I can picture a bad scenario there. What if that single ground wire has a faulty connection? Now you've got 12V coming out of the monitor, searching for a ground. There is no place to go but thru the touchscreen. ZAP.
hey wassup bro .. dunno how to help u out but gl .. here's a free ttt for u.
After talking with a few techies from my job, we agreed on that I should change that ground. Shield's should NOT be used for power grounds, they are to be used as Chasis grounds. They are there to protect the power lines from EMI.
So soon enough I will install a separate wire for power ground. But before I do this I need to check that the LED is actually flashing. Hope it is. ::crossed fingers::
