Maybe hes talking about one of the little fm transmitters used to broadcast the signal if you don't have aux inputs? If so Isolved the constant tuning problem by throwing it away and buyind a head unit with AUX in.

When ur driving, u get in to different areas with different freq. for the same radio station.

Ex. u r listening to 107.5 MHz at on place, when u have drived about 50-60km the radio station u have been listening to may also be transimeted at at another freq. that is stronger. Then the radio automatically switch to that freq. and u have good reception again without having to do anything

My A4 has something like that. You hold a button down and it will preprogram 6 stations with the strongest signal into memory. It has its own memory bank for this and does not over write your own preprogrammed stations. On a side note, isn't RDS the thing that shows you the name of the station or what song you are listening to. Like say you are listening to 105.9 here in LA, it would show POWER 106 (the name of the station).

Yes that's what most people think RDS do. But with the RDS its also possible to tell what kind of program ur listning to ex. NEWS, POP, ROCK, traffic information.....

I think the radio transmitter sends at bit stream along with the radio signal. In the bitsream there r all that information. So i think that it can be possible to write an own program that gets that information and do the best of it....

In the US, we don't have auto frequency switching radios. Our RDS ability is extremely hampered
