    Question mixmatching

I have a question for everyone. Do you think mixmatching audio equipment is bad? For example, I have a AIWA CD Receiver 45x4 rms with aux input(computer port), The AIWA outputs to polk audio 3 1/2 tweters in the front and pioneer 3 way 6x9's in the back. The AIWA also preamps out to a jensen 125w x 2 in the trunk which then goes to two jbl loud and clear 12" subs rated at 200w a piece. Do you think mixmatching degradeds audio quality?

Gudday, Well I find that mixmatching is the only thing to do, no manufacturer makes a good everything, they all seem to have their strengths. For instance one may make great amps but terrible subs. The only thing I can see wrong in your system is that your sub amp is a bit underpowered, it always pays to have a bit of power in reserve.

    Cool

Oh hell no! As Aussieguy pointed out there's not a single manufacturer that does EVERYTHING well, and everyone's hearing has slightly different tastes as far as listening pleasure.

I don't have any woofers in my SVX yet, but I'm partial to a Blaupunkt head unit, Blau 6x9's in the rear (coax), and a set of Clarion speakers up front. There's also a "cheap and cheerful" Wal-Mart amp in the rear that'll be replaced as soon as I get a subwoofer in there... it's not high on my "expenditure" list right now... Christmas and two kids can really put a crimp on these things )

I'm with you on that thumper! I have a kid of my own as well!

I really am happy with the sound of my system for now I was once a bass head wit my 12s in the trunk but I really like the sound of my 6 1/2 inch Polk and JBLS! My JBLS use the voice coil to give off a tweeter sound. This allows me to pump 200 watts into it and still get a great sound and some bump! The sound surrounds you so well that I could sit in there all day! And the clearness is incredable. By the way I have a Family Ride ( 1997 SL2 Saturn) Place for a system as well as a stroler and car seat : )

    Hi all!
I'm gathering opinions about audio stuff... (x-mas is almost here & this single gal has to get her list to santa!).

What do y'all think about your Polk speakers? Are they matched seperates? How much power do you feed 'em? I had a pair of coaxial polks in my subaru, but to my ears they were a little "bright". Certain sounds (like high-hats) actually hurt my ears!

I'm not a bass-fiend, & but would like to have a little bump. My goal is realistic sound reproduction and to create a quality sound stage for the driver & passenger.

Everything in my system is stock now but I plan to buy an Alpine CDA-7963 HU during x-mas and then an amp & new speakers for the front, then a small sub for the trunk.

    Someone does make everything good...Alpine

2 years ago, i would have agreed with your statement, but since then i have found by reading lots of car audio mags and testing them out as well, alpine makes everything goood. top rated mids- highs components on the market, solid hitting subs, strong amps, supreme decks, and the best dvd units money can buy. there is much more to be listed, but dont want to waste yer time reading all this. plus, i have played with the big boys like mbquart and eclipse, but the alpines are sounding the best so far. go to alpine.com to find more.
