    Question IRman v. X-10 Mouse

I am a newbie here just starting out on my carmp3. One of the questions I'm struggling ling with is how to control Winamp, which I will be using as my MP3 player. After reviewing dozens of posts on the subject, it seems as if the best choices are IRman and X10 mouse. The question I have is which one is preferable. I like the fact that X-10 mouse isn't infrared based so doesn't require line of sight; however, I read a post saying it is somewhat unreliable. I'm also concerned that the Winamp software integration (ampapod?) isn't as good as the IRman plug in. Also, regarding ampapod, I went to the FTP site mentioned in some of the earlier posts and there were multiple files available for download. Anybody know which is the file to download?

Thanks a million for the help.

Personally, I've had problems with both, but less problems with the X10. There's new software for it called Max10, which is much better than Ampapod. However, its still weak compared to the IRMan plugin.

    Cool

Ok, I think if you really want to control winamp the way you want, then you will end up writing your own plugin/app what ever fits the situation. You might want to give my app a try. It supports both x-10 and evation IR.

Thanks for the reply, cenwesi. Went to your site but didn't know what file it was. Can you give me the directory/filename. Thanks.

    Thumbs up

    Kevin,
The problem I have experienced is with X-10, is when you have it and a mouse plugged in at the same time, although the X-10 works great by its self. I only have experience with X-10 so I can't comment on IR-MAN.
I am developing an MP3 player that uses the X-10. I should have the software ready for beta relese soon. Check my sight for info. http://www.jps.net/cooley/kooldesigns.html Please note that my site will be updated in about one week from today.
