looking for new atom board need some guidance

Hello everyone I need to build a second Carputer and I am very happy with my trucks Intel D510MO but I wanted to reach out and see if there were any other boards out now that I would be better off with. I am mainly after power efficiency but the one thing that still is a requirement that seems to inhibit my searches is the need for real serial port. Any help oir guidance is greatly appreciated!
Custom Built Intel D510MO, 2GB RAM, M4-ATX, Elios 15" TS on custom mount.
System installed into 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Diesel 4x4.

I can provide Custom fabrication for mounts or installation please contact me. CNC Machining and Powder Coating

    well, browsed newegg a little:

i would probably go with the asus board-- they have been very reliable for me in the past.

I'd go with either the Asus or Asrock. If the newer Asus board is anything like their old one, it's solid as a rock...and overclockable too. Just for kicks I ran my AT3N7A with the Atom 330 at 2GHZ. Works perfectly (an extra 400Mhz on an Atom is 400Mhz I'll take )

If you're really looking for power efficiency you may check out the AMD camp of the Atom competitor. Supposedly it's faster and uses less power. I haven't looked up any reviews or benchmarks on it though.

More expensive but if they're faster and use less power then I guess you get what you pay for??
The Asus version gets very good reviews on the egg. Based on the Asus Atom board I have...I'd say they're fairly accurate reviews.

^ the amd zacate board's are supposed to blow the atom out of the water--both in respect to power draw, and system processing power-- i briefly looked at a couple, but the current ones on the market do not have a serial port, so don't fit the OP's needs..

    Thumbs up

Yeah, I was going to put something more heavy duty with a i7, so I re-thought my situation and I guess I will go this route instead for low power....it just makes more sense, when my system is pushing out 5,000+ watts of power with all my amps already.

Agree with the last two posts.
I am just debatting how many I can afford, as I have quite a few projects I could put them in lol
Just wish they would become more available in Aus so the price would come down a bit..
