not really.
at least, i should say i have never seen anyone do it so far. that is not to say it is impossible, but it is much more complex then just inserting a disc....
I just bought a double din windows ce based head unit, decent unit but the software sucks. Comes with windows ce 6.0 and I believe it is arm based.
Here she is: http://www.mp3playerstore.com/catalo..._GPS_Maps.html
Can I load a new front end for the windows ce setup or replace it with linux, winxp or android? The software with the unit is crap.

Your best bet would be to take it apart, do some googling, and see if you can figure out how it's loading the OS. Most of these devices have the OS burned into a flash chip, so it's not modifyable. Sometimes you can either soldier a new flash chip on, or even bypass the chip altogether, depending on how the board itself is set up.
If you've got a decent amount of electrical and software knowledge you might be able to tackle this task. Otherwise, perhaps sell it on ebay and move on to a real carpc![]()
hi guys!
I have a quick question regarding the Map software in the head unit! I ordered the IN-W72GPS a couple days ago, and looking at my online order receipt i notice i inadvertently ordered the European GPS software version!!! and im in Manitoba Canada!
Is it easy to change the maps in the unit? are they just stored on an SD Card? I emailed Mp3PlayerStore.com and told them about my issue, and am just looking for a heads up as to what to expect..... Im hoping i dont have to send the whole head unit back!! ideally im thinking i should be able to simply download the appropriate map software for my region and update it to the head unit via a USB stick or SD card, but i dunno at this point.....
can anyone shed some light on this problem for me?
TIA,
GiNNz!
doesnt anyone read these?
It's usually frowned upon to link to other forums, but if you do a google search you might be able to find 'your tracks guide' at an underground gps site. Were you to find such a site, you may find many many more answers than you will here since that's not necessarily the main focus of this forum.
i bought one of these, first impression is excellent! then i install it in my truck, and it turns out only two channels are working! no output from the sub (RCA) output, and the rear speaker channels (RCA). its a sad day....
