Tried this today, and it still doesnt work.
The serial cable I am using is a high quality Belkin cable thats shielded and everything, and its only about 4 feet long, PLUS I test the continuity of the pins so I know its not broken at all.... I did the same thing for the DIN cable I have, it came from my XM radio box when I got it.... So now I am completely stumped. I know the serial port is on because I get voltage on just the DTR pins and Ground when I checked with a voltmeter..... I honestly dont know what else to try.
EDIT: I got another serial cable, and made it shorter thinking that possibly the longer wire caused a voltage drop. That didnt change anything. I tried a different PC, and that didnt change anything. When I rebuilt everything to the schematic specs (and I added a diode on DIN2) I can hear the HD box clicking on when the app is run, so I know 100% the app is turning on the HD box, then when it stops searching and fails I hear another click when would be HD power box turning off. Is it possible the wires listed on that site is wrong? Perhaps the transmit and receive is backwards? Has anyone actually built this cable and got it to work? I know "phuz" said he built the cable, but never actually said it was fully functional with RoadRunner...
