we arnt arguing RE, just that he RE MY cable, while he drew the schematic, it was from my PCB
yes, its not sold by me anymore, if someone wants the schematic, i have given it out many times...
    just contact me
i just dont want it public for the googling world to see
    (course a bit too late)
the other schematics that i've seen out there, are not exactly the same as mine...therefore not my exact design
its all about developer courtesy... (on this forum)
not anything in the legal side...

its not like its unknown who created the cable: (i think i actually had it ready early 2007, but didnt think anyone would want them, i was wrong on that)

I am getting private emails from people who want the schematic, and am asking them to contact Mitch.

My schematic drawing is just an ohmeter schematic without any component values, and was only drawn up to help me visualize getting the correct signals from the HD Radio board (not using the mini-8 din, but pc board holes) to the Motherboard COM1 header. It was not drawn up in intent to distribute, because I doubt anyone else will ever bother to de-solder a mini-8 din, the RCA line out, and power connections on the HD Radio board to try and fit it all in one case.

The only reason I bothered to share it was because I was reading of the poor guy who has been posting in this topic's plight, (from September no less!) in hopes something different in the schematic I reverse engineered, and com setting I used, could get this suffering individual up an running. I did not bother to take off the mini-8 din part of my drawing, because again, the intent was not to distribute a cable schematic, but reference to help someone troubleshoot.

I was shocked at the least to discover that someone lay claim to designing that circuit in this very thread, so I asked it took down, but I also have to question why, if there are so many senior MP3CAR members reading this stuff, nobody bellied up to the table to help solve this poor guy's longsuffering plight?

When I started visiting this forum last spring, I did all the typical newbie reading, FOR MONTHS, before I dare post anything or start a project of my own, and this post is the one that jumped out at me the most, of which even if the reward part is now dead, it's intent I have tried to live up to on this forum:

Super Rep Points - Get Store Credit for Being Awesome!

I'd like to introduce you all to the Super Rep Points program. The goal of this program is to reward forum members for being awesome and helpful. Our moderators are now given "super" rep points to hand out to any non moderator who is showing extraordinary community involvement. When you get super rep points, you get an email with a special code that gives you money to use on the mp3car store. That means if you do a great job here, you get store credit. 10 points = $1. You can get points for things like

Community member goes above and beyond - Helped a newbie, wasn't rude gave them lots of good starter tips.
Community member goes above and beyond - Helped a user do a bunch of troubleshooting
Awesome work log, with links and how to photos
    Awesome free software product released.
Community member suggests an awesome idea for a contest/project blog post
Community member finds a new product that everyone has been looking for for years.
Any time of extraordinary community contribution
Someone in need of an innovation grant
Community member settles a flame war without moderator intervention

So keep helping, keep innovating, and stay involved!

For all the info on the program see this thread

rray sees Mitch's request, gets the idea he might have done something wrong (stole something?!), tries to stay in forum good graces.

The rep system is an after thought. I can't even find a way to check rep feedback anymore after the last forum upgrade. I also, as a mod, don't know anything about super rep points. Perhaps I'm just not paying enough attention.

You can share that schematic if you want to. You created it. Mitch is just going to need to realize this is how the world works. If Mitch or Rob doesn't want this to happen in the future, forum rules will need to be established concerning/protecting this kind of thing. If this against forum policy, I'd like someone to point out where the forum rules or user agreement shows this. Even though Rob is God around here he can't just come in and arbitrarily delete posts, with similar content we allow, just because it affects a product mp3car sells or used to sell. This would be a completely different situation if some sort of IP was stolen or copyrighted images used, or trade secrets revealed. None of that happened here.

    1. I didn't arbitrarily delete the posts. If you look at my last post, both the author of the post requested it to be deleted and Mitch who claims it is his. The author couldn't delete it because he was on his tapatalk client which doesn't allow deleting. The author asked a moderator to do it.

    2. Deleting this post has absolutely nothing to do with us making money money on it. There are dozens of hobyists items like this cable where we sell so few we actually loose money by the time we pay for team time to procure them, the warehouse fees to hold them, support costs, fees to process orders etc. We do this as a service to the innovators to provide a distribution method and community members to have a one stop shop for their buying. We want to do everything in our reasonable power to encourage innovation. In all honesty, there is also a 'lost leader' component to us stocking low/no profit items but it is irrelevant in our community decisions.

    3. Certainly there are a few of us with 'god powers' on the forums but ultimately these forums belong to you the users and the volunteer moderators who run them. It has been 3-4 years since we have used my 'god powers' which we may never use again. Ultimately using this power without community leader support is bad for the forums. Sometimes difficult decisions will need to be made. If a difficult decision arrises, hopefully there can be consensus among the long time members and moderators, if there can't be i'll act as a tie breaker and post reasoning for my decision. I did not consider this a point of conflict for two reasons - 1. Rray the author wanted this deleted. 2. mitch is willing to share this with hobbyists who need it. If we feel there is a conflict here we can bring this up for a debate and vote of a rule change but I don't think there really is an issue.

    4. The rep system - So few people were using this we haven't maintained it. I think in the history of super rep points, only a hand full were ever issued. If people want to use it, we can look into how much work that would be with the new version of vbulletin.

Rob, my point right now is this. Judging by rray's posts, he only requested it be taken down because mitch freaked out. RRay thought he did something wrong. This should have been handled differently. Mitch should have reported the post and taken himself out of the equation. He IS a hot head and ALWAYS makes rash decisions. Why he is still a mod I'll never know, and I've brought that up before as well. I've always considered you on the level so seeing you delete these posts so hastily was a very weird thing to happen also.

All I'm saying is I really don't understand what happened here. This should not happen. We have an entire team of great mods and there is always a lot of discussion when touchy subjects like this have risen in the past. I just found the manner this was handled disturbing. I would like to think that any other mod would have known this didn't violate anything and make sure rray was ok with what he was requesting, perhaps set the thread to moderated while we made a decision. I would assume rray spent a lot of time on that schematic and work behind it. He was just attempting to give back to the community, and posted something he had every right to.
