12 Volt HDD media player

We have since this month a new car.Our kids are growing up so a Renault Grand Espace 3.5 V6 is now parked in front of the house

Car already has a very good Nav plus Radio, and iphone is used to listen to all my MP3's. That means that a CarPC is not really needed.(for now)
But.....the kids need their movies when we take a trip, that means that daddy needs to go online shopping.

Idea is to get me 3 9" Headrest LCD's. That is not so difficult to find.
Problem that i am having is what to use to play the movies.

I could get a Headrest WITH DVD player, but that means that we need to take DVD's in the car, and that is something I don't want.
That is why I am looking for a HDD media player.

Problem is that all of them needs 220V, and most of them offer only HDMI.
That is why I wonder if somebody can help me find the right Media player.

Think that this player needs to have are:

-HDD bay (or other storage device)
-RCA output (red-yellow and white connector)
-able to use it with in-car 12V power.

i have seen car-type media players that meet your needs-- you just load a SD card with the files, and then play them off of that.

there is also devices like the WD Elements box-- it has a 1tb hard drive for media, analog video/audio connections. the down side is that i believe it requires 19v power-- which means that you need a power supply like the carnetix 1900, 2140, or other models like the dc-dc usb.

now that i think about it, there should also be external hard drive cases that have what you need as well-- i know i have seen a couple in the past..

seninha, this is what I use in one of my rides for backseat entertainment, plus I also have one hooked up to a 32 inch LCD TV /surround setup In my upstairs living area. Pretty cool. And yes, this is also a 12v unit.

^just keep in mind that car power fluctuates between 5-20 volts while the car is running, depending on what is going on in the car, so unless the device is specifically made for automotive use, you will still need a power supply to feed it a constant 12v power to prevent issues.

This player does really look great. Small and capable of doing what I want.Only wonder how you did attached to your car power supply?

@soundman98: device that uses a SD card sounds also great.32gb should be enough to take some DVD when been on the road.
Need to see if I can find such a player (of course needs to be able to use 12V)

Hey

I have an external Hard Drive that I carry all my music on.
Does anyone know of a device that I can plug the HDD in to so i can play my music in my car or any other source?

If there is such a device can any one post a link to it so I can see what they are and what they look like.
