Question Rear View Camera - Selectable On / Off

    Hello,

I am looking to install a rear view camera as part of my CarPC build, however rather than having it ONLY "live" (operational) when in Reverse, powered off the reverse gear wiring loom for example, I'd like to be able to switch to it whenever I please, via the screen, and be able to view whats going on behind me.

I dont really want the Camera "live" every second that I'm driving (as I wont be looking at it all the time), but only to actually power on when I choose. What is the best method of achieving this? A remote switch inline with its live wire to power it on/off, or is there a more effective method - perhaps where it somehow will only power on when a certain display mode is selected on the Display, to view its output (streaming video)?

    Any thoughts or feedback appreciated.

I have a Xenarc screen that auto senses when video is fed to an input. I hooked up a relay and a switch to turn the camera off and on at will. The other part of the relay is for the reverse light also tripping the auto video on the Xenarc. If interested check out my work log, I needed the help of other members, to get it going as well.
