I am looking to install a rear view camera as part of my CarPC build, however rather than having it ONLY "live" (operational) when in Reverse, powered off the reverse gear wiring loom for example, I'd like to be able to switch to it whenever I please, via the screen, and be able to view whats going on behind me.
I dont really want the Camera "live" every second that I'm driving (as I wont be looking at it all the time), but only to actually power on when I choose. What is the best method of achieving this? A remote switch inline with its live wire to power it on/off, or is there a more effective method - perhaps where it somehow will only power on when a certain display mode is selected on the Display, to view its output (streaming video)?
Any thoughts or feedback appreciated.
