Trying to reuse resistive touchscreens for an Android device! PLEASE HELP!

I have gone ahead and bought 6 MK802 units. These will be for the independent user units. I also bought a MK808 for shared use. These units would be great for people wanting to jump from Win PC based to Android based. One issue, no USB touchscreen. I have been searching the internet and most deal with capacitive touchscreens. I am not interested in replacing 5 touchscreens. I am already ****ed I worked on a Windows based system for 5 years, just to dump it and use Android. I know that there have to be drivers out there, or a way to make them work, because some tablets are using them, since multi-touch has been added for resistive panels.

I found something from Microchip. Its called the AR1000 and AR1100. They are resistive USB TS, but also have drivers for the unit that work with Android. They say its a universal driver, so does that mean the drivers will work with the type we use in the car? http://www.microchip.com/stellent/id...cName=en543486

This is the only thorn in my side right now. If this can be figured out, then these would be the most awesome Car PC unit. Any help would be awesome.

We have ready AR1100 (USB interface) solution for sale, it will be added to our catalog next week.
And we can also supply 7" 1024x600 LCD with integrated resistive touchscreen that works with this this AR1100 board. Thing is all my screens are VGA based, so I have converters that convert from HDMI to VGA and give me a 3.5mm audio out, since the MK802/808 units do not have audio out, unless through HDMI. Also, I am not looking to replace my screens, I just want a universal driver that makes them work.

Thank you, lets hope it doesnt die like the last one. All though I cant see it, since Android is so much more appropriate for mobile use. I just hate it took so long for me to switch. I didnt know you left? But I also havent been on religiously like I used to. I was kind of bummed that the Windows based Car PC was actually dying. Then was even more bummed when Centrafuse fell. I then got the MK802/808 and was so impressed with them.

Robert, I assume you have way more resources into the electronic world. Why is it so hard to add back in resistive touchscreen drivers, along with a calibration tool? I mean no one seems to want to touch this idea. There are so many people in the Car PC area that could benefit from the driver. They would just buy a 50.00 dollar PC the size of a stick of gum, rip out the old clunky PC and have a extremely lower powered high multimedia Car PC, with tonnnnnnnnnns of apps from the Play Store. Way to many of us have resistive screens and I cant see them all wanting to trash them and go with capacitive.

Where are you at with getting a touchscreen to work with your mk808?

No where................ I have basically put that aspect on hold. Now focusing on just getting the main system in. I know its something easy for a Android programmer, its finding one willing it to do that is the issue. I mean the MK802 and MK808 are easy because they are rooted. So getting something in should be easy.

I am going to try to contact the company that makes the cutomGadz. See if they they/he has any ideas and or options. His device seems to work on BlueTooth, none of which the MK802 or MK808 have, but it does have the option for a BT Dongle. So with that being said, we should be able to use the remote BT touch device that he creates. Now the only issue with that is that my install has 6 touchscreens, which means 6 BT devices. Is the remote BT touch device smart enough to stay paired with it correct device.

It is more geared to mobile use. My install was a multizone type install meaning that each seat has its own environment and all can also share a shared one. With Windows I kept hitting road blocks and gave up. With Android though, I bought 6 Android powered MK802 units. They are made to turn a HDTV to a smart TV. They all come with Android ICS. I also have a MK808 (has dual core) which I use for a shared environment.

Here is my issue. All my screens are resistive touch and the units do not recognize the touchscreens. It is also impossible to find capacitive overlays that fit my screens. None of the units have BT, but there is an option to add a BT dongle. So here is where I am emailing you.

1. Can your remote BT device work a BT dongle?

2. Do I have to use HDMI? The screens are all VGA and use a KVMP switch to toggle each seat from shared use to personal use. Those run on VGA, so I use converters that convert from HDMI to VGA than to the KVMP switches.

3. I have 7 of these Android computers, when I turn them on, will your units pair with the correct device every time? I know that each BT dongle has a mac address, does the same apply to your device?

4. Finally, one Android PC, the shared one, has all six touchscreens connected to it. How would I get that to work.... because it is shared all screens I want to be able to control it. One idea is that I can plug the BT dongle into the KVMP switches. That way when it is changed, it goes from PC to PC. I am just not sure if that one PC will allow 6 BT dongles to be connected at the same time, all connected to its own remote BT device.

Please get back to me with answers, suggestions and concerns.
