    I got a power problem I think

I just went out to buy a new stereo for my car since the stock stereo on my Pontiac Sunfire (97) didnt have any input for my carputer. So I went over with my dad to Tweeter and picked up a Alpine CDA-9813 with a Boston speaker set (smallest speakers they sell, I forget how small they are, but they were the smallest they sold...STupid sun fire). Anyways, I am having a very large problem with power. I just dropped a brand new Deka battery into the car. And the alternator isnt that old in the car. If I dont have the cd player on then I can get it to be on completely (35), even though the led lights begin to blink slightly. If I have the cd player on I can only get about 20-25 out of them before the stereo shuts off and comes back on. Then I have to lower the stereo very quickly or it will continue to shut off. I can get it to be a little louder when the car is actually running compared to when it is in Accessory mode. So does anyone have any ideas? I am going to give Tweeter a call tomorrow and see if they have any suggestions. But in the mean time I was hoping someone here would have a solution. I guess this wouldnt be such a problem if I knew I wasnt goign to drop a carputer in the trunk as soon as I finish getting the stereo all wired up. Thanks in advance guys .

What's the "(35)" youre talking about? What LED begins to blink?

Yeah, it does sound power related - im guessing the numbers you are giving is some sort of volume rating ????

To test things out, I would try temporarily connecting power for your headunit (be sure to get both lines) (many are yellow and red) straight to the car bat.

If this works, its shoddy dash wiring - re run the line.
If this fails - try the head unit in something else, or start going through your cars electrical system - Do your headlights come on full brightness??? - those draw a lot more power than your stero would

re read his post again. He said if he has the CD player off then it would be on completely (35) so he's not talking about the volume. I re read his post over and over and still dont know what the hell he's talking about. He uses "it" and "them" for the most important part of his question. He's located in the US so there's no excuse for his poor English skills. DUDE we dont know what "it" and "them" and "(35)" you're refering to so no we cant help you out.
Please be clear on what you're describing.

Just reroute them through it and you can exceed (35).

Either power related (not enough jouice when the car isn't running to operate the CD changer (assumption), Headunit, and computer.

or when turned up, the built in AMP in the headunit can't cope and is shutting down from overload? Doesn't explain why it is better when the engine is running other than power though.

    But I'm no ice expert.

Well, the computer isnt plugged in yet to the computer, I havent even run the lines for it yet. The other thing is that it doesnt have a cd changer (external), it is just a slim line cd player (on the front of course). I guessing at this point that the stereo shouldnt just shut off like that.

Eliminate power by running a direct feed to the battery as suggested above. You should run both the positive and negative leads. I wouldn't hardwire anying yet. It may turn out to be a defective unit. Just run some long cables from the cable from under the hood and through the window.

It could be any number of things. A loose connection, bad ground, shorted cables, bad unit, etc. But from the symptoms, it's probably related to the power cabling in particular.
