    Screwed up BIOS; options?

I attempted to reflash my Zotac IONITX-A-U BIOS after altering the stock BIOS by inserting my own OEM Logo. Now I have a blank screen.

The way I see it I have a few options:

    - replace the bios chip with this one http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BIOS-Chip-ZOT...ht_1272wt_1262

    - buy an eeprom programmer and attempt to reprogram stock chip - any suggestions ? (I used to hack satellite dishes so I have some electronic knowledge but am no way an electronics expert or computer software designer, but I can muck my way through it; that's why I'm in this situation)

    - use an alternate BIOS like Coreboot or something like that - again, anyone have a suggestion?

and / or (I would still like to save this motherboard for financial reasons)

    - buy a new motherboard and CPU and memory, etc

Have you tried to clear the Cmos? MANY times locking up the Bios can be handled by clearing the cmos.

MOST modern motherboards do not come with a socket holding the BIOS since it is an eeprom. Some motherboards come with a Bios recovery mode where you can flash a new bios when your old one is the wrong one or is corrupted etc. You should look and see what the maker of the board says. If you are lucky and have a board such as an asus board that comes with dual bios chips you would just revert to the old one.

Worst case you are likely better off buying a new motherboard unless you bought an expensive one.

Tried pulling cmos battery, changing jumper, as per zotac site. No luck. I ordered a new one because the chip is a PDIP 8 pin and removeable. I may still get a programmer because I still want to change the logo.
I wonder if i could chip my car my self; that could be an expensive mission when it goes wrong.

    i had the same problem.
i needed a new BIOS-chip to boot in DOS and reflash the damaged bios-chip.

use 640x480 bmp 256color as own logo. i don't know why, but only this works.

It worked. Bought a backup bios chip for <$20 shipped, booted computer, swapped old bios chip back in and reflashed with an image of 640x480 and 256 colors. I now have a BMW M5 bios screen.

Is that a stock BMW Bordmonitor or another lcd screen. My Lilliput monitor has blue solid screens between bios logo, boot screen, then windows xp background before Roadrunner loads. I'd like to find a way to make them black. I'll make video later.
