For the weather in Driveline I think Clockwork will have to answer that. For OBD2 Driveline will work out of the box just set the right com port and you should be good to go. Right clicking with a touch screen is usually a long hold and it should change to right click options. For scrolling that really depends on your monitor. SSD's require some knowledge as you want to get good speed just watch the cheaper models as they may be quite abit slower than others. Maybe post your weather question in the Driveline forum as a new question, then xclockwork will get notified SNO

I have the chinatobby 8" screen too, but I can see the BIOS post screen. I used the VGA connection. I am going to use the HDMI connection when I install it in the car so will test then.

hi guys. i started the writing a reply but lost it.... and it was a big text lucky you.
anyway lets get to the point now.
first of all thanks guys for ur replies . today i am so happy cause it was the first day the pc runned in the car.
it was a difficult thing to do as i was fighting with memphis laws.
on thursday i ve bought myself some pvc plastic 10mmx20mm and a aluminium 9mmx19mm. so i build a case for the panel and its boards.

coming to the facts. the problem of the lcd is a chipset's related problem i think. at this point it is a little anoying as from now i have to take a monitor down to the car or unplug the case (which btw has been left down without mounting) and get it upstairs.

OK, installed my carpc and screen over the weekend, and can report the Chinatobby 8" touchscreen with HDMI VGA Composites auto/switch reverse to AVI 2 works great!. It's plenty brighter than the "Transflective" LCD panel with res touch+controler for $101+$36 S+H. I used the HDMI port and it automatically set the 8" screen to 720P, and the aspect ratio looks perfect. Touch screen is responsive, and the auto switching to reverse works, but is a bit slow.

Here is the 8" touchscreen mounted in the metra dash kit:

I modified the Metra kit to fit an 8" HDMI touchscreen, HDMI and Composite TFT driver board with auto video switching so I could switch from PC to Backup Camera whe I put the tranny in reverse, a Joycon programmable steering wheel button interface, and an intellegent 80W DC-DC converter to provide computer grade power for the screen and electronics:

Nice setup rray. Chinatobby sent me an answer saying that the monitor probably wont play at the starting of the boot. If i got it right these monitors have some issues on the 640*480. My monitor is a vga + 2av only so it is different than urs ( the board.)

My lcd wont fit anywhere in the car. So until i ll do some serious changes i have it as a standalone version ( i have to post some pictures for the people to see a bad design ).

Coming to the ssd case. I really dont care about speed ( the boot will be much faster and i like that) . Te thing that concerns me is the vibrations of the car. So i don't like the idea of the one and only hdd to get damaged.

The one that i am looking is this on 60gb ( the v300 version). What do u think guys ? is this worthing it's 60€ ?

Today after some small strokes i finally set the pc to switch on and off with the igniotion key.

Now i am looking for some reverse cameras and the reason of the failure with the big (15,4 )screen and chinatobby's board.

Be well guys thanks for ur responses,

    Pavlos

High guys . How are you doing.

From my point of view the things are colored. I got myself suprised on the begging of the week when i plugged another panel to the board that i have.
This one was just a plug and play. So The second panel is on the go now.
The secodn thing that suprised me today was the success of turning a laptop's camera on usb one. I had one ( from the laptop that i cooked the panel) which had five cables. The 3 of them were easy to find black ( which was thicker than all the other ) was the ground ( shorted out for testing). Then i had a white and green ( was thinking them as data) and a brown ( suspected as +)that should be the perfect deal. on the usb cable that i had there were green/white together and a black and red for ground and positive. But there was a extra black which was thinner than the big black.

On the very begging the camera couldn't be seen by the htpc. After that i shorted the black which has been left with the positive ( +5v) . At that time the htpc saw the camera as a usb 2.0 camera but because of the x64 it couldnt get it to work. SO i took it to a x86 system where with the right drivers i got my first picture.....! All this with the spare little plack cable shorted with the brown ( camera module + ) and the red ( cable + 5v).

My quess on theat is that this is some kind of swith to turn the camera on and off.

The weird thing is that when i plugged it to the driveline i got some weird noises from the speakers ( also usb ) .

So i was thinking due to my bick stupidity ., Is there a way to understand if i did something wrong or i ll fry my mobo's usb ports and wont get a clue ?

End of story for the camera as it seems it cant see a thing during night.

And something else. I have a bluetooth usb. Everytime i switced it on i have to connect it and create a port and write a pass and all these boring things . Is there any other easier way. I mean even a software that do all this for you ?

    Be well guys

As far as the 60€ 60GB SSD, go for it, price is not too bad, and it is vibration proof. As far as using a laptop webcam for a USB camera, you discovered they are not so good for low light situations, but you have to go into device manager and see which com port is mapped to the USB Camera, then in Driveline Settings assign the camera number to the correct com port to get it to work.

Some USB devices cause noise, so you need to use a different port, trying them all to find out which have noise and which do not.

As far as bluetooth dongle, leave it on all the time and it should not change ports on you, else it is a goofy BT dongle and I would try a different one.

    Hope this helps some.

    945 chipset

Guys today it came on another issue.

These days i was preparing the 15.6 laptop's monitor to plug it in the car. Today got it in the car and put it next to the 8" as a second display. The problem was that it couldn't take signal during the windows ( on the post both were fine ) have it plugged on the dvi out.

I tried to many things . It happens only one ( playing both of them) but only for 15 sec . After that the pc turned itself to the 8"/

Then i took out the 8" lcd and have the 15.6 plugged at the vga out. On that time the monitor played but not well. After that i set the resolutiong to 1280x800 . This was the best picture i took but not satisfied enough. Meaning that when i plugged to the htpc ( nvidia210) it played very well with a crystal quality.

So i am thinking several things. The dvi out is ok as it shows the bios and post screen.

the cables are ok as they have been tested on the other computer.

The only thing left are the drivers and the chipset. See the carpc is most for the kids and then for me . So the dual monitor setup is a must.

Are there any solutions on the issue or do i have to get myself in the unpleasent situation of looking for a new mobo with a different chipset:

For once more guys give me ur lights....

I found this on the Intel site about that chipset with GMA950 graphics:

Expand your view across two monitors for more workspace. Option requires Advanced Digital Display 2 (ADD) card for additional display connectors. PCI Express* x16 port availableš to upgrade to higher performance graphics card if required for extreme gaming.
So it looks like you need an Advanced Digital Display 2 (ADD) card for additional display, which means you might be better off getting a more modern PCIE x16 dual head graphics card.

so you are saying no dual monitor without this card. This card is a pci-e card and i only have a pci slot. In that case i remember i guy who bought a pci graphic card and get rid of this kind of problems...!

But this pci cards are diffucult to find in a good price at this moment.

On the other hand the problem for me is that the dvi cannot send any kind of signal during windows. I am not using a dual single dvi-i cable but it should work with this simple dvi cable that i have.

I dont know whaqta to say . TOday i ll try again with the dvi port may buy a dvi-i cable and later on i ll post some news
