Security Systems, whats what and what to get?

Hey everyone, could someone please just explain some different types of security systems and tell me which one you like most. I saw this one on the net and it kills your engine with a button or something...prob something i would want.

I am willing to spend about $200....are those systems above decent? and i just basically want one that has a pager and a kill the engine feature. Thanks

P.S. Remote start would be real nice too

I have the Prestige 2 way pager remote start alarm system..
I have to say I'm pleased with it so far, sometimes it goes off if a really heavy bass note is dropped by a passing by car. The guy who installed it said he may have made it too sensitive and to let him know and he would adjust it,,i'll leave it like it is ... Has very good range, says 1000' i know i've checked the alarm status and remote started it from over 200 yrds...plus i like the fact that when it goes off I know about it right then and rather than after I come back to my car to find out my alarm has gone off...mine has a bright blue led that flashes as a deturent also and he mounted it so that it is seen from all sides of the vehicle, more so in front as I tint all around...

Has some cool functions like it can start up if the interior gets to a certain temp, have it start at a certain time of day...etc..etc..

One lady told me i scared her i was in the store and had remote started my truck, it beeps and flashes the lights once b4 it starts and she said she looked and didnt see anyone until she saw me walking up and disarmed the alarm...

I thought about getting one of the 2way pager systems off ebay but after asking local shops what they would charge to install it I might as well got a name brand and let them put it in. The guy who intalled mine was a friend so he gave me a deeeeep discount on mine

Either way get something and see if your insurance company lowers your premiums any

if you get that second one, have a professional install it. I have installed 8 car alarms and dozens of stereos for freinds, and that thing gave me fits. I never got the remote start to work, and the pager remote thingy kept losing sync with the alarm so I had to re-program it at least once a day.

basically, its a pain to install

Yeah I'm going to echo what the other poster said about the pager one.I was going to go the ebay route and install it myself and was told by many it would be a pain. so I called shops and like i said i might as well bought it from them. I just happend to remember a friend of mine works for shop so he gave me a good deal

Hmm that's no good.. I was going to buy the pager type and install it myself as well.

What about the Clifford alarm that has a computer interface and lets you control windows, doors locks, etc?

Clifford alarms are suppose to be installed by authorized dealer only. Thats why majority of their alarms dont come with installation manuals. For 2 way paging remotes, Matrix RS3 is the only one Clifford makes and retails at $400 plus installation. I believe it is G5 compatible so you can use cliffnet data plug. Let a professional install your alarm unless you have alot of experience installing alarms. I did my own install on the AvantGuard4 and SmartWindow4 on my truck cuz I'm authorized.
