This might be fun....
- Has 4GB of Flash memory already installed.
- VGA Output
- 3.5 Headphone output
- USB 2.0/3.0 ports outside
- Accepts 12 -19V power
Fun fact - Windows 8 Embedded Industry Pro minimum install is 1-2 GB. Full install is less than 4GB.
Throw 2GB of RAM and a nice little SSD, add a mini-PCI-E wifi card (antenna ports are already there), and you could have one very nice little box I think.
Considering the celeron NUC is only $150, maybe under $100?
The best resurrected frontend I've ever used, period.
Good pricing!! Now i want one to play with
"a single-core Atom E3815 processor clocked at 1.46 GHz"
i think the chip has not enough speed for a carpc.
You might get a basic setup...music radio/dab and nav
The new Bay Trail processors are pretty good. MUCH better than the older ATOM chips. I've got a Miix 2 tablet with the 1.33 Bay Trail quad-core and it is very nice. Keeping in mind that very few things you do on a car require (or are programmed for) multiple cores, it might work better than you'd expect. TDP on this chip is 5W, so this really is a low-power/low heat setup. You could probably tuck this behind/under the dash and have no problems at all. But I agree that price will be a deciding factor.
Personally looking at the ecs liva pc small bay trail pc 5v 3a power usage. Wondering on performance and if its possible to add rear screens via USB to hdmi adapters for people sitting in the back seat.
