The new HDD probably will fit in. The only problem is that your BIOS probably wont recognise it as 25GB(probably see 8GB). There are drivers out there to get arount these limits and I've used them with older laptops before.
I'm trying to build a system and have been debating on the best way to implement it. I would like to use existing equipment (if possible) to keep the price down. Here are a couple of things I have:
an older winbook (laptop) computer:
-12.1" active matrix screen
-32 mb ram (weak, i know)
-2.1 gb hard drive
-p133 mhz processor
-no tv/out
It's pretty weak but that's why I don't use it anymore. If I could do something with it that would be cool. I know the hd is too small, but...
I also have a 25gb Dell Laptop HDD that is not being used. I doubt it will fit the Winbook as is, but is there a way to modify either item so they work together? I would stash the laptop under the back seat of my car, so I don't really care if the HDD fits inside the laptop or how it looks.
I would like to have a 5-6" touchscreen as the display and input. All I want the system to do is GPS (looking at Co-Pilot) and Winamp. How much trouble will I have with 32mb ram. No interest in movies/tv.
Any advice? Is there anything I can do with this laptop?
thanks.

If your lucky, a BIOS upgrade just might fix that hard drive size limit. It's worth a try anyway. It worked on an old P166 (Now K62-400) desktop of mine.

Cyrix 166 32MB with MPXPLAY And no display. Player sits on the back seat with a keypad in front. Someday I'll mount this thing for good...
