Thread: Power and heat question

You can sheil your case but you probably won't need to. You defiantly want good airflow in your system. one input and one output fan will get rid of alot of the heat. As for leaving the fans on all fo the time, it might eventually run down your battery, it may take days for it to happen but, it eventually will.

I had alot of problems with heat the past two weeks , living in the MidWest we got hit big time with high temps. Thus, I installed a digital read out thermometer in my car with a sensor inside my case and in the car, I have only a slot fan for added cooling in my BOOKPC. It works ok but is still not sufficient, air conditioning is its only salvation. It reached sometimes like 120degrees in the case. OUCH!

My case has got 3 cooling fans, tis good...
2 suck air out, 1 blows air in...
And there is a fan on the processor..
My HD stays quite cool, I thought it would get hot because there is no room for air to circulate around it..

Wow, that's cool. Someone else is using the same method as me! Putting the computer under the dash on passenger side. Might I suggest you take a look at my setup http://www.digitalintegra.com . To save some leg room, don't build a case, build a 'false floor'. It is basically a wall infront of the mobo and everything. What I did was lay the mobo on the floor and use MDF to build a wall to protect the computer and mount HD/DVD-ROM and stuff. I added a output fan. I'll probably add another one soon, but I haven't had any heat problems. The fan connects straight to my motherboard (as most do) so it is only on when the computer is on. I should also mention that $635 is extremely high for a 5" composite lcd. You can get a 6.4" VGA (full kit) for that kind of price! Your resolution would be 640x480...way better than 140,440. Not to mention you wouldn't have to get a card with TV and you could take a untampered output straight from your video card. Unlike VGA to Composite manipulation, which can degrade video quailty. There's a lot more leg room then the picture show. I've had no complaits from passengers so far (including large adults)

man cool, that exactly what i was thinking of doing.. only my carpet is faded.. buti can make it work. oh yea about the lcd... it flips out of the car deck cd changer i found the same one on ebay for $370 used.. i can get it cheaper about 320.. you you still think its worth it oh yea im not going tpay for it (im helping two other guys hook up lcd in their headrest and they said they would pay for a screen for me if i did the labor.. so i guess since its free it a good deal .. but i might want to upgrade later.. so any suggestions are helpful.. i dint know that a lcd could hook straight to vga .. im new to the computer to lcd thing not the other stuff.. thanx carlos

A LCD can hook straight up to your computer...if you buy a VGA LCD kit. I got mine for $700. Price, I know. Well worth it.
