    VIA ME6000 opinions ???

Looking for info from those who have used this board for DVD playback through Win XP.

Is the Eden 600 MHz fast enough, or do I need to go to the 1GHz C3 processor?

    thanks for the tips,

    Mike

I have an M10000 and it is great. I'd definately say pay the extra money and go for it.

I have the EPIA 800 and dvd playback sucks so I would guess that the 600 is not enough. You can always add a new video card to it. Thats what I'm doing!
EPIA 800, DWW-7VGA LCD w/Touchscreen, 256mb ram, dvd rom, ati radeon 7000 video card, 80 gb 3.5" hard drive.

the 800 uses the older processor doesn't it? It also doesn't use DDR. That might be part of the problem.

Well, the newer M boards (ME6000 and M10000N) have the new CLE266 northbridge that contains the 8X AGP graphics chipset with built in hardware MPEG2 decoder for DVD playback. This chipset uses part of the system ram to run. I don't think that the 600 MHz eden should be any slower running DVD's than the 1000MHz Neamiha, cause I think that it is all the graphics decoder doing the work, but I'm not sure.

I was just hoping someone had this working so that I would know. I really like the fanless silent nature of the 6000, but would hate to drop the green on it only to find that it was too slow.

    thanks,

    Mike
