I'm thinking that this board would make wiring up controls a LOT easier.. (though I'm still going touchscreen), this thing could help out a bit rather than hacking keyboards, or dealing with bulky number pads...

It's really made for MAME (arcade emulation) but, it should work in MP3 applications, too, since it's programmable.

    check this out.

Poweramp mite, plugs into keyboard port, and is fully programable, and does macros.
I've takin one apart and soldered some buttons onto it. It's a little bit of hacking, but it's cheap

Chris, I think it would work quite well, and is fairly inexpensive as well. I like the fact that he also offers the keyboard LEDs. You could easily program the unit to use hard switches, and also add a numeric keypad, if necessary.

Yeah, I had a little bit of fun at work with my Poweramp...until the sysadmin saw what I was doing.. ...Had one button programmed to do the following:
    Ctrl-Alt-Del
    -enter-
    username
    -tab-
    password
    -enter-

... completely "bypassed" the security of an NT server system. LOL!!!

heh heh heh... almost forgot... Had a second button programmed for:
    Ctrl-Esc
    R (for Run)
    sol.exe
    -enter-

    heh heh heh
