    Nearing Stage Two Completion

    Hi!

    I am getting to the point where all the new wiring has been run, new speakers, carputer installed and running. Screen is permanently wired into the car. I have run into a bit of a snag. I have the system wired up with the remote turn on for the amp and the EQ wired to the switched power in the dash. Only the remote and not the mains are hooked to this wire. Am I going to cause damage to this setup by using the main for the old radio as the amp and EQ key?

    Let's get this straight:

    Amp & EQ - receive remote turn on signal from where ever (doesn't really matter!) - both of these are keyed to ignition.

    The mains power for both devices come from some other source. Correct?

    My answer: As long as the voltages into each are correct, and you've grounded properly, then what you have done is completely normal.

    Is the main from the old radio switched power? If yes, then you're sweet. Nothing that a bit of testing with a mulitmeter and flicking the ignition on and off can't confirm.

    In my case a 12 volt test light. But essentially correct. thanks!
