    Hey guys,
Anybody managed to use DaVinci for the mp3
display/control unit yet ? At $99 looks like
    an option...

It's Palm III alike, but much cheaper.
LCD with touchscreen, CPU, 1-2MB RAM,
    RS 232 - all for $99. Uses 3 AAA.

Well, I guess you would need 2 things. The first being a program capable of decoding mp3s. Second, a larger storage device. 2mb is equal to about 2 minutes of music

I think what Alex70 is referring to is a tethered control unit that would interact with and control an mp3box via RS-232 ports, sort of like an Mp3OnDemand on steroids, might work in theory, and at only $99.00 might be worth a gamble.

The Royal DaVinci looks and "acts" like the Palm III, but the software isn't compatible. And it seems unlikely (at least to me) that it will get a lot of third-party software written for it. Something that I might consider a drawback is that the batteries aren't rechargable. If you're going to spend some money, you might as well buy a Palm III (or even an old PalmPilot) to control it.
