    Question What about this SBC?

I was wondering whether anyone had experience or views on this industrial PC type mainboard

    The website of the board

It comes on an ISA "Passive Backplane", which as far as i gather means I get a small mainboard the size of an ISA card, and I also get 2 more ISA slots, say for sound and network.
I was just wondering about the availabilty/price of the tfts for it, seeing as it has a "General purpose flat panel connector", which is I think 50 pin. The full list of supported tfts is at

    The tfts it supports

I would be really grateful if someone could tell me if/where I could get a supported one and how much it is likely to cost.

I can get the system, kitted out with P200MMX, 32mb RAM, Sound, Network, Floppy, HD for a reasnoble price, but seeing as I have already made my player V1 *DOH*, it is only any use to me if i can get a tft for it.....

    Thanks a lot

    Charlie

If you want to go for a small form-factor, you should take a look at PC104 and EBX.

PC104 (and PC104+) cards are about 3.5" square and stack on top of each other like bread. A good place to look at whats available in the PC104/PC104+ form factor would be www.pc104.org or www.pc104.com.

As for EBX, it is the size of a standard 5 1/4" drive and the mainboards usually come with a PC104 connector on them. I especially like the half-size EBX boards as they are the size of a 3.5" drive and usually carry the same punch. You should go to www.sbc-pc104.com to find some manufacturers.

PC104 "stacks" can be driven by PC104 DC-DC power supplies and EBX boards/stacks can be driven by the Keypower (or any other brand) DC-DC power supplies.

Then again, if you have a real need to use ISA backplane technology go for it. It's solid, but just not as small.

Keep in mind this doesn't really offer any space savings since it must be inserted into the ISA slot of another computer to work from what I understand. I could be wrong, though.

Thanks guys, those links are very cool cj, but the main reason I asked about this board is that i can get it cheap (secondhand) from a shop nearby , so i don't have the options of the others, unless I save up loads...

    Thanks Again

oh and BTW LCD Crazy, it dosn't need to be put in another pc's ISA slot, it has a special board for it with just 4 isa on

How cheap is cheap? Various SBCs can be found for cheap on E-Bay as well. How much are they going fro at your local store?
