Solar Power

I've been looking @ various solar setups to keep my battery charged while computer is running and I'm away from my car. I found the solargizer from PulseTech .Seems like what i might need, but I'm not sure. Can anyone else shed light on this solar issue?

I doubt that the 1A (under ideal conditions, of course) the charger produces is enough to power an idling player, let alone charge the battery at the same time.

Oh, and don't waste your money on PulseTech stuff. It has been proven over and over that pulse charging a lead acid battery has no measureable advantage over regular charging.

Don't use it? Sorry for the smart assed answer, but that seems to be the most efficient solution right now. If you want solar power, you will probably have to cover your entire hood/boot with solar cells. The power output is not worth the cost, at least to me.

How many watts of power does your system need to run?

Let's pretend it is 80W.
A panel that puts out 80W is going to cost about $400.00 (Solar panels at a discount as $5.00/watt). It is ONLY going to put this power out when the sun is directly over head. This panel is going to be 3ft x 1.5ft in size.

So, what kind of power does your setup take?

Im not looking use this solely to power my setup, that would be idiotic. What I'm looking to do is run my computer on standy with only the webcam motion detector going. I need something, like a solar panel, to try to make up as much as it can ( charge) to the car battery which the computer wuld be feeding off of. Im not trying to power my whole setup off a solar panel, I dont have that much money

So, even based on that what is your power requirements? Have you even measured it yet?

What I said about max power being generated in 100% direct sunlight, you are still looking for a decent size solar panel.

That 15W supply is not even close to 15W under real world conditions.
