Thread: what sound system are you using ?

Pyramid 160W AM/FM/Tape driving 4" Lanzar speakers in front, 6" Lanzar speakers in rear. Two 5.5" Lanzar door speakers motivated by a Pioneer 130W amp, connected to the Aux out on the Pyramid deck. No subs, but those door speakers really make this system pound.

Here's my setup:

Amp: Phoenix Gold Octane (Limited
Edition) [#9 of 24]
2 Farads of capacitance
Built-in bass cube
Pushing a clean 840 watts

Speakers: MB Quart pwc-116 reference
coaxials w/ Musicomp crossovers

Subwoofer: MB Quart premium reference
RKC306 dual voice coil

Equalizer: Phoenix Gold TiCOMP digital EQ
-hooks up to laptop baby =)

Headunit: Pioneer 7" LCD module w/ CD
player, 2 aux. video (and audio)

And that's just scratching the surface =)

160w Blaupunkt Sevilla RDM 168 which drives
2x 6' Pioneer 65w in the front doors
2x 1' Blaupunkt 35w tweeters just under the window...
A signal splitter is used to provide the tweeters only with highs while the pioneers only do the 'lows' and mids..

In the back...
2x 6x9' No Name 150w
These aren't the best speakers but the don't have to put out heavy bass.
2x 15w sony tweeters

In the trunk
150w RTO (hamburg, germany) bridged amp.
400w 12' US-Blaster sub in a 50 liter sealed box.

The Headunit drives all speakers in my car except the sub...
I don't put any low bass to these speakers because the sub takes car of that...
Therefore the 6x9' don't have to provide the full base range.. only the top of it.. -> the high bass... and that's is why these aren't the best speakers.. they only have to put out high and mid, and a bit high bass

Along with the sub all frequencies are covered.. (this is the secret to a good sound.. use speakers where the were designed for.. don't try to get deep bass out of 4' speakers... If you eliminate this deep bass to the speaker it will sound much better)

Amp: Kenwood 100 watts

5" color flip up/down LCD

Rockford Fosgate power cables
Dynamat (Doors, floor, trunk and firewall)

Rockford speakers all around now.

RF components in each Door (4)
2 - 15 inch RF DVC's in back

MTX 1504 Amp for doors (500w)
RF Power 1000 for subs (1000w)

All Pioneer Units
DVD, Nav, TV, CD changer, etc.

JL Audio All Round

2 * 5.25Inch 2ways in the kick panels

2 * 10W08 10Inch subs, custom sealed enclosure. Running in parallel to give 4 ohm load.

Clarion 5 channel amp, bridged into three. Delivers 90WRMS into each 2way and 100WRMS into the subs.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand that loud crap. I'm happy with my tunes, I don't need the shoved into my ears with metal q-tips ;-)

I'm actually _NOT_ about loud .. I do sound quality (as the MB Quarts would suggest) My entire system is designed around near-perfect compatability to reproduce sound at negligable distortion.

On another note, I just added a TiDEQ digital equalizer (with channel time delay capabilities) to the arsenal. I hit 40 out of 40 with tone reproduction.

Well, what the value is compared to what I paid is almost as staggering as the retail value. =) Put it this way, with all the peripherals in my car, I could be driving a BMW M3 or a Honda S2000 ;-)
