Lightbulb Hard Drives and Shock Mounting

I've noticed that a lot of people here are forgetting about there fragile hard drives. I've been working with computers for a long time now, and hard drives are always the last thing to die. However, put them in a car with extreme vibrations (from sound system, engine etc) and they'll turn into scrap metal.

I found a good website that some of you may want to look at:
    http://www.chassis-plans.com/html/sh...vibration.html

If anybody has any good ideas about keeping the hard disk safe then let me know. One user mentioned using foam which is the simplest method, and in my opinion much better than complicated shock mounts.

    Cool

There's a lot of into on this BBS about HD mounting and such. Just search and it will all be found, including my recent 33 post thread detailing my latest HD failure.

I've found a solution! Today, I ordered a new mouse for work and the box it came in is perfect!!

The hard drive fits perfectly and it's covered in this 'egg shell' foam stuff which keeps the hard drive nice and snug!

My next plan is to put some small fans in there to keep it cool!
