The short answer is yes, but it will cost you $200-300 and some searching to find a controller to fit your LCD. Usually, unless you know what you're doing, you are better off buying an already assembled VGA LCD or a kit from www.earthlcd.com or if you're lucky, eBay.

bgoodman: I am trying to find as much information as I can by all methods possible, wether it be searching auctions, LCD Panel manufacturers, or members here on MP3Car. This is a field of electronics I have never been in, and the more information I have the better.
And a reply with "search" doesn't tell me a damn thing, I'm sorry to say.
Falcon62Travis: Thank you for the info, man.I think I found a kit that might be suitable for my needs.
Thanks for the help.
Which kit is that, DaPep?

dan0myte: Actually, I was looking at the SK-3001 kit for $ 150. Looks pretty decent...
DaPepster: bgoodmans reply on 'search' is telling you to use the search function, top right of the screen. You will find that this has probably been discussed numerous times.

For another perspective, I would avoid the SK3001 "kit." This is basically just a 4" LCD with NTSC-in capabilities. The kind you can pick up on ebay for less than $100 (a lot less sometimes). Keep in mind you need to have a video card or built-in video that has an RCA/composite video out capability.
In addition, if you think this is going to look like a laptop screen you are in for a dissappointment. The resolution for the screen in this kit is 383H x 234V. This is decent enough for TV-quality signals and is OK for use with programs which have been optimized for these screens (such as the Cobra series), but realize that it will not look like your laptop screen which has at least 640x480 pixels. Thats why you see the big price jump when you get to the "real" laptop screen kits they sell, the complication factor increases significantly.
Also, to be honest 4" is quite small, but several people here have found this size and this screen quality to be more than sufficient for in car applications such as mp3, movies, gps, etc. Good luck.
hornet: I understand, but just using a one worded answer to a question shows me that the person who replied is hardly able to get along with, nor is interested in helping me in the first place.
I don't mean to complain and sound like an english professor (which I'm not), but had bgoodman said "Try using the search function in the upper right hand corner of the page," I wouldn't have felt threatened and felt like I was treated like an idiot (which I ALSO am NOT). And yes, I realize that a question such as this is probably common, but I didn't find as much as I was hoping in using the search function, hence the reason I asked here.
Anyways, enough of that....
LCD Crazy: Now that you mention it, I can see yor point in the poor resolution and quality of the display. I guess that's a good example of why we don't see very many laptops with a TFT LCD display of 10.4" or smaller.![]()
