I use this one for my car. It has a 100meter range! Most have 30meters. The latest drivers is widcomms 1.3.2.7 (fixes original bugs and adds more devices). I also use one of the cheap brands i bought off ebay for my desktop - worst buy ever.
    ...snip...
Bluetooth headsets are awesome if you can save up the $$$ - $100.
That's the exact same adaptor I have, and it does seem to work well, however there is one issue. To get my phone and computer connected, I do what everyone else on Nokia3650.net does - I click on the serial connection in my bluetooth explorer, dismiss the error dialog, and then I'm connected and am able to sync using Nokia's software, or transfer files, etc. My impression is that you don't have to dismiss this error dialog churnopol? How do you initiate your bluetooth-phone connection? Do you have it set up to automatically associate when they get in range? That would be the ideal configuration obviously. I bet the bluetooth headsets are awesome! I would love it if I could get some software to implement the bluetooth headset protocol for my computer, and then my computer could use a computer hooked up to it for input, and have its speakers connected to my fm modulator in my car for output, and I'd have a car-phone.

    Cheers,

    Taylor

If you follow the instructions on that link it should solve everything.
    Which drivers do you have?

Well, I actually feel lucky in that my phone works pretty well with Bluetooth, but I do get the error message that the article you sent me mentions. TO quote that forum post:
"You may get an error on your computer saying that com 0 is being used. Click OK.
You may get a connection fail prompt. Click OK:"
Well I do indeed get these messages, and I would like not to have either one pop up when my phone connects. I would also like to initiate the contact from the phone itself (not the computer) or automatically. Have you figured out how to do either of these, or at least how to connect the phone without these annoying error messages on first connect?

As for the drivers, I have 1.2.1.20.

    Cheers,

    Taylor

This is also what I'll want if I get this phone. Initially, I don't plan to have a screen in the car, so I'd like to stick with something that brings itself up automatically and just works without any fiddling. I would find a couple of extra steps acceptible on my home system, but I don't want something in the car that will distract me from driving.

Taytay, it sounds like you and I have the same expectations. If so many others are having trouble with this I'm not convinced that it will work well for me. I'm still unconvinced that this is THE phone. Please, let me know if new drivers or something else help out.

Well good news - the only time you really need to go through the mumbo-jumbo that gives you an error you have to get rid of is when you want to sync over Nokia's PC Suite. Other than that, you can use your phone to iniitiate connections to run things like Bemused (app that controls winamp on your computer from your phone) or send it files. All of that works like a charm. So since you're not going to be using PC-suite to backup your phone to your car computer, you should be fine. I'm also going to try setting up my computer to dial out over my phone every time it needs an internet connection. I'll let you know how that goes

Very cool. Sounds like that should work just fine. By the way, what OS are you running? Any idea of compatibility?
