So, if I burn 1000 mp3's as data format on a dvd-r, your player will read them and play them-just as if they were burned to a cd-r in DATA FORMAT right????

Sorry, I've gotten soo many wrong answers to this question from other manufacturers and I have to be sure you know what I'm talking about. I've taken a dvd-r disc with mp3s in data format to the local stereo shop and not a single deck they had would recongnize it. I tried this in an alpine, pioneer, eclipse, and panasonic dvd decks. If your deck does this then this would be truely unique in the current car DVD arena!

I have a question to ask about the DV-8680
i am thinking about purchasing one from digital world wide.
I have not gotten a response from Armen and was
Wondering if anyone might be able to tell me?
My question is what are inputs into the unit are?
I am hoping for a digital in as an optical or a Toslink.
Also if anyone might a have a photo of the back of the unit
Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Diagram on top of HU

Rear Connectors - CDC, antenna + 5.1 preouts etc. see above diagram for further detail...

Rear connectors right side close up - only bottom harness is removable

    Sexy black front face plate

    Sexy black front face plate...again

Sexy black front face plate...one more time

I bought this HU from Armen a couple months back, but never had the chance to install it yet. I was looking for a HU to play CD's, DVD's, and MP3's. My other criteria was that I didn't want it to look so bling bling/high tech alien looking. The DV-8680 fit the build nicely. I was expecting the HU to have a silver face plate, but to my surprise, it arrived in black--even better.

In regard to your input/output question:
-1 auxillary video composite/stereo RCA input
-3 composite video outs (to feed mulitple monitors)

There aren't any SPDIF or Toslink in/outs. All digital processing is done natively. I believe it handles AC3, Dolby Digital and DTS surround formats.

    This thread lives!

Anyhoots...to answer your question Goose, there are 6 individual preamp outs. So yes, there are outputs for rear, front and sub (pre)amp.

If I recall correctly, both center and sub are non-fading, so no discrete/individual level controls for those two. You'd pretty much have to set it and forget it, that is unless you install some sort of inline volume level control device.

    Cheers
