    Post New cpu + mobo

Ok, after almost 2 years, i decided that i need a new motherboard and cpu for the car. The 133 just isnt cutting it anymore. Before buying one and finding out that i should have gotten something else, i decided i better ask. Will ATX work so that i can basically keep my current setup. I have everything(lcd, inverter, pc) turn on with one switch. I want to keep this the same way but if i get an ATX mobo, it will shut off everytime and i would need to go to the trunk and turn the sucker on everytime. Any recommendations/help?

ATX motherboards have two pins on them that are used for power. You close the connection between the pins temporarily and power comes on for the PC. You close (and hold them closed) the pins again, and power will go off. So, you could run a pair of wires to your dash (where your main power switch is), and you'd just have to hit one switch and one button to power them on. Actually, you could leave the main power switch on all the time (I don't know how hard that would be on the inverter though), and just hit the PC button to turn everything on.

Many ATX MB's have a BIOS option that allows the computer to turn on when power is applied...thus foregoing the traditional momentary pushbutton on switch.
