    Unhappy Will this VIA EPIA M10000 setup work properly??

    I have been trying to do research, but this setup is too new, and the best info is on mp3car forum. But I still have not found the answer if this is "Ok"

    This is my conceptual car pc.

    Trying to find out what I need to get it in and up.

    So I am planning on running in my passenger AIR BAG Compartment:
    --VIA EPIA M10000 -Nehemiah version
    --Slot Load DVD Drive
    --100 gig E-Ide HD
    --Adapted Water cooled heat sink (still investigating this)
    -- (piped to above) 12v water pump/water resivor/and radiator with FAN on drivers side
    --modified optical track ball mouse, or a small touchpad
    --USB Hub that is extended to ash tray area/lower dash
    --Display (the issue below)
    All Routed to my Current Car audio system through the AUX inputs.

    The tricky part:
    For Display I plan on using ONLY the stock on board video
    1 RCA port ( the Yellow RCA Video/TV out)
    to my two existing 7" Video lcd monitors

    For Audio I plan on using the mini phono
    line-out, adapted to an RCA Left/ Rt to my Head Unit Aux in


    I am worried about the display looking crappy, not being a vga display.
    Does this LCD to VGA comparison have a huge difference??

    On this planned Idea I be able to run at what resolution?
    Only 800X 600 or the Stock tv signal 640 X 480???
    I am planning on attempting to run Media Engine or Media Cruiser at 1024 X 768, or whatever widescreen resolution is at 1024 wide what is height.

    Any comments would be greatly welcome.

    What gives with the water cooling? I've done it for years on my desktop but it is just not needed on the Epia platform. Stick with the stock heatsink and fan, and it will keep your warranty in tack. If there is a bad combination it would have to be computers, cars, and water.

    As for the display, yeah the video isn't going to make you happy if the monitors are cheap. However, if your current screens do not get any interference from the car electrical then your a step ahead. Most of the problems with RCA video is it is just blurry for small text. If you use large phonts then it won't be an issue. Even GPS can work good if you get a map program with resizable fonts. I've found that text size of 14 and above is readable (14 is barely readable).

    Also one note is the Epia M series does support wide screen resolutions. I believe it's something like 848x412 or something like that. It does work and looks pretty good so give that a shot before you go with non widescreen resolutions. I've noticed that screens look a whole lot better when they are displaying in their native mode versus something Windows is trying to cram down their throats.

    do you have any source, where can I find out about this? because XP driver I setup on my M10K does not show these, non standard/widescreen resolution.
    I have tried my 7" lilliput on win2k with nVidia geForce2 and 848x480@75hz works perfectly and looks perfectly

    848X480 works with the M Series boards. Its just a choice in the resolution settings in windows.

    You may need to un-check the box marked "Hide all modes that this monitor cannot display" in the Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor area.

    I have tried everithing, does not help, i upgraded bios, put new driver, no wide screen resolutions, finnaly after playing with different versions of drivers and BIOS, I got 848x480 in listing in Adapter section, but my Lilly is out of range on 848x480@75Hz (same setup works on nVidia)

    what version of Video driver, BIOS and what Board are you using, and what monitor?

    I don't have my LCD panel yet, so I can't prove that it works with mine. I do remember seeing the 848x480 on the list of modes in PowerStrip. I'm at work now, so I will have to check when I get home.
