Some questions...
Ok... this could get fairly long, so I'll appologize now. I've been reading about this MP3 car player stuff for a few weeks, and I think I want to dive in and do it!
1 -- I'm most likely going to build a system with a 200Mhz processor in a tower box. I would like to put this in the trunk of the car. I've read that there are heat problems related to having the cpu in the trunk. Do I just throw another fan in the box?
2 -- I have a factory GM Delco CD Player deck, which I am NOT going to replace, so I was going to get one of those inline FM Modulators. Anybody know of anywhere that sells them cheap? Is there going to be a problem with running an audio cable all the way from the trunk to the rear of the deck? Interference/fuzz?
3 -- Is there any problem with running a keyboard all the way from the trunk? Will the computer be able to handle that long of a cord? And again - Will there be any interference/fuzz?
4 -- IR remote? Once again (: Can the cables be run back to the trunk with out causing interference, etc?
5 -- LCD Displays... I was originally considering using a 16x4 display, but then I started reading some messages about 6" LCDs for around $100. I may decide to go this route instead. If I'm correct, most of these LCD's connect to a video card that has TV outputs, correct? (I also read that post about the 6.4" Sharp LCD for $30. If these is fairly easy to get working, please let me know.) And again, will there be a problem with running these cables all the way back to the trunk?
6 -- I used to use a power inverter (A Whistler) to power my large guitar amp. I always noticed a slight hum from the speakers. Will this hum also be heard if I use it to power a computer?
I appologize for the length of this message... It's just the list I've written up in the last week or so. Thanks for the help!

One more thing...
Is it possible to store MP3's on CD's and have them play from there? Or will the road vibrations cause it to constantly skip? I would like to just convert all my CDs to MP3's and burn them onto a bunch of CD-Rs.
Thanks again

3 - shouldn't be a problem, I have my sons computer hooked up in the living room with 2 10' ps/2 extension cables on both mouse and keyboard, and have had no problems with either working properly.
about the cd skipping question, depending on which mp3 player you use, you may be able to force the player to load the song into ram first, so that skipping becomes impossible, that's how I'm setting up mpxplay

What year GM car do you have? I know the newer cd players with eq's all have cd changer contols. There might be a way to input a signal that way? I really wouldnt recommend using a stock deck try and upgrade that after you get your mp3 system the way you want it.

It's a 1995 Delco deck. Has the CD player and Treble/Bass controls. It doesn't have an actuall EQ other than that.
