Thread: Can someone offer some advice on a good LCD

well, #1, ure not gonna find a colored one that plugs up to serial or parallel, those are only for the alpha-numeric LCDs, meaning they only display song title, etc. no graphics. #2 you have to get a LCD with RCA connections and therefore need a video card with TV-out. Probably the most popular LCD thats already wired and ready to go would be the one from partsexpress.com. Check the link below. As far as a video card, check compgeeks.com (check the link below). Thats a mid quality, about 12MB, there maybe cheaper ones, but the brand spankin' new ones are 32MB for about $125. Good luck with it.

Dunno how I attached my 128x64 dot matrix GRAPHIC lcd to my parallel port then...! Seemed to work OK, I was drawing lines and triangles and stuff at one point (I stopped short of texture mapping, I thought that was getting silly). I must have been halucinating. :-)

well, as much as that smart **** was required, u missed my point. What I meant was graphics as in the windows screen etc. Is your screen in color? that was his main question, I just put graphics in to help explain the point I was making. If you want cheesy dot matrix graphics, then go ahead, by all means enjoy, but I believe the original post was asking about color, is yours in color?! doubt it.

flat-panel.com has color LCDs that are driven by the serial port. Actually, it is only a controller for teh serial port to drive TFT panels.

I know this is offtopic but the email I sent to you was bounced back. The question is, how are you going to be mounting that lcd into your car? I ask this because I'm thinking about buying myself one of the new celica's and needed some ideas. Thanks in advance.
