Here I go with my Lorty plug again.

    http://lorty.mp3car.com/lcd.html

You can download a fully functioning demo...the nag is that it will stop every couple of minutes. But you can see if you like it, then register it for $10.

(BTW that is my 40x4 display on his page)

You need to figure out what information you would like to be able to see on the LCD and then look at some of the plugins that will do a virtul display on your desktop without a LCD hooked up so you can see how what you want to see would look on that size screen and also it might help to figure out where you are going to put it in your car since that can be a limiting factor on size also. Now I admit that I did not do any of that before I got my LCD display but I am pretty happy with my 4X20 MatrixOrbital display and I am using VB software I got from somebody else and have modified to better suit my size and display preferences.

Just as someone will invariably say something good about lorty, i will have to say this: dont pay a cent for an LCD plugin.... you can get more than you need for free.

This is an opinion, not a rebuttal;*>

I've had two people email me wanting me to send them a copy of the Registered version of Lorty's plug in.:O

I guess thats one way to get something for nothing.

I register because someone put the time into making something, and it is only fair that they be reimbursed.

If you like something else better then get it, but don't decide based on $10. In fact even if something is freeware or whatever, at least send the creator an email of thanks.

Sorry, hope I didn't sound like I was preaching.

I don't program (gave it up 15 years ago) but I appreciate the work of those who do.

Sure, if you want to send me a registered version of lorty's plugin, i will look at it. I am sure that many people would appreciate it if you posted it on the web. My problem is not with the program, or the cost, it is the fact that i would be paying for something that should be free. You dont see me charging for trimodalvoice (see software section). Lorty, do us all a favor and give away your plugin.... Personally, i use Mark's plugin. (www.sourgeforge.net, search fort "LCD") WinLCD will also work OK....
