Audigy / Audigy 2 audio question...

For those of you who have a SB Audigy or Audigy 2 soundcard I wanted to know if you use it direct to your amps. How well does the variable subwoofer crossover work? What about playing standard 2 channel audio... how well does the Audigy do at mixing the 2 channel audio to 4 channels in the car + subwoofer?
Can it also do this "upmixing" on the line in audio? (which I will use for a FM tuner or XM tuner).

I am asking this because I am contimplating totally removing my HU soon... doing so will allow me to achive a more "factory" look, and make my limited dash space less crowded.

On a side note:
I tried using the M-10000 Via AC97' 6 channel output, for the front+rear+sub and was unhappy with the sound and LACK of decent software to do any mixing/crossover. I am hoping the audigy 2 is what I want and need!

Any comments appreciated!

I picked up the M-Audio Sonica Theatre, you might want to check that out. It lets to adjust each speaker lever, you can have up to 8 speakers (7.1) and it has crossover adjust points for each speaker pair. The best part, its USB, so I can run the USB to the amp, and use short RCAs from the amp to the USB soundcard (mini-jacks on that end).

I've only listened to it on headphones (waiting final install), but it will mix 2 channels into whatever using circle surround.

It was about $80 or so at newegg.

Thanks for the valuable info... i'm going to look into it. What configuration to you plan to use it in in your car?
I want to do 3 channel (Right + Left + Sub) or 5 channel (Left Front + Right Front; Left Rear + Right Rear; Sub). I just need my ears to decide what sounds best!

One possible problem with the M-Audio Sonica Theatre is that I don't know if it does "upmixing" to 4 or 5 channels from the 2 channel analog audio input (line in jack) in real time. I need that capability for my FM tuner and XM tuner.

I have Audigy on my desktop and Audigy 2 in the car.
Audigy is up-mixing to 4 or 5 channels from the 2 channel analog audio input (line in jack) in real time. I'm sure because I'm using it for DVDs played on my laptop and the sound goes to the Audigy's line in.
I guess Adigy 2 will do it as well. I don't now. I have no other audio sources yet.
I'm using Audigy 2 5.1 audio in my car to 4-chanel amp for fronts and rears and Bass redirection to bridged 2-chanel amp for the subwoofer. Sounds really good and I have complete subwoofer control which is very important if you have different quality mp3s. The only thing I don't like about this setup is I can't get the center chanel to the front speakers(no option for that in Audigy controls). I'm getting it on the subwoofer when DVD 5.1 is played. I have an idea how to resolve this problem but haven't try it yet.

Looking at page 26 of the manual,

it looks like the input can only be routed to the front left & right outputs.

I'm not set up in the car yet, but I do plan on running a 4 channel amp to the 4 door speakers (front & rear). I also will be adding a sub at some point - soon as where I figure out where I can put it and still have room for my 220 lb battlebot.

You might look into the XM PCR - ah nope, just checked it, it has a USB interface to the PC, but an audio cable to your soundcard.

If i decide not to use the onboard audio, whats the best board?Audigy/Audigy 2 / m-audio.revolution 7.1.

I'm also looking to buy an External sound card, so let me know what you guys find out. I'm still not sure if i want to set up my car in 5.1 or not. The only time it would be useful is for watching dvd's, but that won't happen to much. I might just stick to left, right, and subs.

Any update on this? I am about to buy a sound card for my new car pc and I need to determine the answers to these questions first (considering Audigy 2 and Revolution with Revolution as a first pick):

Will the Revolution upsample the line in from a head unit (for radio input) to 4.1?
I think this should be possible with Circle Surround II but what about other surround modes?
How do these sound?
Is a stereo 4.1 instead of surround sound 4.1 suported if I wanted that instead?
