To those who own one of these, I need your help please.

Will my slim cd -> USB 2.0 adapter work w/ these drives?

In other words, does the back of these drives look like this?

Doesn't look like the same plug
So there's no way to use one of these usb 2.0? I think the adapter from laptop cd drives converts to 40 pin IDE. I wonder if you could go from the slot converter IDE to this IDE->USB 2.0...Anyone?

It's possible to convert from standard 40pin IDE to USB2, but the converters are usually only found in external shell kits. We sell them at our computer store, and you could probably find one at a CompUSA or mom-and-pop shop in your area. If you can convert from that funky connector to a standard IDE, I would suggest picking up a shell and modding it so that the front plate accomodates your slot.

It's a bit of a new thing to me, this, but I have seen those proprietary Toshiba laptop hard drives converted to external USB drives before. It seemed to work. I'm simply not sure about Mac drives though...

look at the slot2 picture i posted in the 1st post. I think this board converts from IDE to USB, but somehow the board incorporates the 5 volt power you give it to the drive. I guess i just need to buy one of those apple drives and see...
