    802.11 software ?

I was wondering what kind of software solutions were available for 802.11b networks. I'd like to be able to manage wireless networks, wardrive, the works. I just havn't seen any third-party applications and hoped for you guys to expand my knowledge.

    Thanks!

Netstumbler is the best wardriving program out there. Just remember that wardriving is legaly questionable, and accessing an open network is quite clearly illegal (Not that I think it should be).

That is the only problem with netstumbler. If you decide to wardrive, make sure you look into building your own antenna. It can magnify your signal 10-100x from what I've heard, and they're cheap to build.

Also, make sure you look into the different types of cards out there. I know that there are some cards that have removable antennas that allow you to attach pigtail connecters.

The pigtail connectors attach to your antenna, and you will become a wardriving god.

I wish I had more time to be able to wardrive

Where can I find out how to build my own antenna? Does it just have to be in close proximity to the card, or somehow connect to it?

    On another subject:
I wander between about 7 networks and it gets VERY annoying to have to go in and manually enter the IP and DNS for each one, as well as changing the SMTP servers in outlook. Are there any applications with which you can set up each network, then select from them wherever you go?

    P.S. I am using a PCMCIA 802.11b card. I believe it's a Microsoft MN-520.

    Thanks!
