    motherboard options

Hey guys, this is my first post.

This is a greast site, lots of info. I have been reading a lot, and wanted to get started with my project, but don't know which motherboard to get.

I have been searching and haven't seen many different setup or options. I have seen a lot of people are using the epia motheboard, I wanted to know what other boards are you guys using. I was thinking of get one of the MSI boards but not sure which one. Those of you that have a motherboard other than a epia, could you post which one you are using and if you like it or not. Also could you let me know if you have had any problems with your board.

By the way I am looking to run mp3, dvd, divx, and gps on my system, with a vga screen, maybe lilliput, with the opus power supply.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Hi there,

I am currently using a AS-Rock K7VM2 Mainboard and am very satisfied so far. The Board is Micro-ATX Form Factor and support Duron/Athlon (XP).

I'm running an Amptron board, model M810D, it is also a Micro-ATX. Has built in AMD XP1800+, 6 USB 2.0 ports (4 external on back of board and two that plug into usb header), on board NIC, Onboard video and sound, 2 PCI slots, IRDA header, has two slots for memory and takes up to 1 gig of pc266 ram. Also has card reader connetivity on board. Has standard ps/2 connectors and one serial port. Very happy with board. Only thing unhappy about is that I am using Ultra Hal Assisstant (Artificial intelligence program), with the speach recognition program there is a couple second delay between when you ask the computer a question, and when it answers. From looking at other forums it seems more processor speed gets rid of this problem. Other than that, love the board. And for $109 it is a pretty good deal.

Anyone else use any other micro Atx motherboards? I also like to get feedback from those of you using the MSI boards as well.

    Thanks.

I'm not using a mini or micro ATX board, but it is small nonetheless. I'm using an EM-586, an 8" x 6" SBC with everything on board (audio, video, 100BaseT, gameports, USB, IRDA, serial, parallel, IDE, floppy, etc). All runs off 5V and 12V only too.

Does your motherboard have, onboard sound and video? If so do you like the quality of the sound and video?
