    Question USB DVD decoder

I have a bookpc which doesn't have any PCI slots, so I can't install a DVD decoder card. My P200 MMX is too slow to use with software decoding (I believe.)Anyone know of a USB DVD drive which does its own decoding?

    Thanks.

the likelyhood of that is very slim, because an uncompressed data stream would not go over USB very well at all... maybe 1 frame a sec

    Yeah just throw it away!

Since that is a real solution! Probably the answer you've been looking for.

While my associates are correct that the odd's of a USB DVD decoder are slim your best solution is the simplest. Upgrade the processor. You should be able to get a 500Mhz AMD or Intel for $30. Far cheaper than ANY USB decoder would run you. I do believe there is a FireWire DVD decoder, but FireWire cannot cross-over to USB.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to sell it and get a FV24 with a PIII. Directron also has a cool little flextATX case which is so much cheaper than the aluminum one which you can get for the FV24, so I'll probably do that. Guess its time to start saving!
