hooking 4awg to battery?
this is kinda off topic (though it will be powering my box off this power line). how do you hook 4 gauge wire to a battery? my battery has the fatty posts on top so the ring terminals don't fit around it http://www.mp3car.com/ubb/frown.gif any suggestions would be great! thankx,

I'm not sure if I know what kind of battery posts you're talking about, but I thnk the marine battery clamps with the big wing nut on top work great. That way you have room to add as many 4gage cables as you want.
I'm assuming you need to use a ground wire as large as the (+) wire......
You should be able to pick up post clamps at any auto parts store.. they're designed to repair a standard battery cable, but they've got 2 bolts you can put ring terminals under. You could also to to a car audio shop and get one there. They'll have the gold plated ones, those may have clamp downs, ie. a hole for the wire to go into and a set screw to keep it in there. Those are usually more $$ tho.
Go to an auto parts store and get a bolt similar to this: http://www.wranglernw.com/commerce/I...temNo=34%2D906
Replace the bolt through your clamp with this and attatch a ring terminal. Don't forget to fuse it as a wire this big with a short will definately be a fire hazard.
thanks all. you guys are great.
How much current are you going to be pulling on that 4ga wire?
i will have my mp3 box and 2 (dont laugh, im a poor college student) legacy 800 watt amps.
