EPIA mobo and DVD playback

i love the EPIA boards but after reading reviews and specs on the M10000 vs the older mobos... I want the bare minimum mobo that will alow me to get away with decent dvd playback... the only other software that might take up most resources is navigation. any suggestions? I'm trying to save $$ ... and i'm thinking that SDRAM would be cheaper than the DDR.

The reason why i'm trying to restrict myself to the EPIA boards is because of the "All-in-One" including the CPU features.

the bare minimum would be the epia 800
but I would suggest getting the epia M9000

It has a built in decoder chip.

Why you no like M10000 ?

well i dont see a real price difference between the M9000 and the M10000 so the choice is obvious. The epia 800 is a cheaper alternative but without the decoder chip, i'm assuming the playback is goin to be shadey...

I've never really had a problem with the Epia 800. What about the M6000?

the main difference is that the M10000 neremiah is the only one with a processor that has decent floating point performance, the other older cards use a C3 Ezra that is BAD at maths (not as bad as the current US president, but still...)

Any of the EPIA systems should be fine with dvd playback, decoder or no. My PII 450, back in the day (end of 97, if memmory serves me) handled it fine with software decoding.
