    Unhappy inquiry on inverters!!!

im from the philippines, and believe me there only a few who knows a thing or two about inverters. ive got everything already to pump in mp3 music to my car, except the power supply, im thinking of extracting the inverter from the uninterruptible power supply of computers, would this do?

    Thumbs up

Should be perfect, just as long as the battery in the UPS is 12V.

    tnx for the reply.
found an inverter on an electronics store, its small labelled as 15-0 watts, sine wave. would this baby, be enough to power my pc?

got another choice, the big bro of the small inverter, a really really big one. labelled as 650 watts, sine wave. question. i know that this monster can power my whole system, yes, even the printer!, but would my car battery survive with this power-hungry fellow? wouldnt my current accessories be disturbed if i use this thing? btw, the inverter still uses 12vdc, and car space is no porblem; ive got the perfect nest for this monster if i decide to use this.

I have a statpower 150watt inverter and it works fine. A computer realy doesnt draw that much power other than at boot, you should be fine with 150 but some people prefer 200-300watt inverters.

    Question

Ok, here's my question then...Will a 140W be more than enough for my computer and an external USB drive?

It should be fine... an average car MP3 system only draws around 50W anyway...

Has any one did this yet?

Is the ups a true sin wav or a simulated one?
    How could i tell?

Would the flux in car damage the ups?
    I have a pair of 12s w/ 500w amp. maxed out
Big spikes? enough {{{bass}}} to look crosseyed.

How would you go about doing this?

I have a deltec power rite MAX. rated at 700va/480w. big. it has 12v batt.

since we're talking about inverters and how much power is needed, i have a question as well. I have a P166 with 16Mb ram, a 3.2Gb HD, soundblaster vibra 128 PCI, S3 Verge 1Mb video card and a floppy drive, already running mp3s on my sound system at home(this machine runs fine with no glitches), and i was wondering if a (continuous) 300Watt inverter was enough for this system to run in a car?? And also will 300W drain the car battery to quickly?? (a similar question was asked by aye)

    I use a 140 watt for a p233 with 32megs, 4.3 gig 3.5 hard drive, ATI Expert@play, 4x cdrom, Floppy drive, and 4" LCD. No problems
