Any Epia M10000 Owners Having USB Detection Problems?

Well I've had my truckpc running for a couple of weeks and the biggest problem I'm havings is that my USB devices (touchscreen on Lilliput, M-Audio Sonica sound card and Earthmate GPS) don't get detected about 50% of the time on start up. I installed an pc powered hub that these devices attach to. Sometimes I boot up and they're working and some times they don't. Anyone having the same problems. I'm running XP Home SP1, 512 Ram, Notebook HD, Notebook CD/CD-RW drive. I've seen some information over at Microsoft saying that it might be a known problem that will be corrected with SP2. I tried to get the patch already, but because I have an OEM license (yea I actually spent money on a license) MS won't give me the patch to see if it solves my problem. Anyone have a suggestion? Any way through software to simulate a plug unplug of the USB cable?

I was having the same problem before I had the hub with the touchscreen and the gps hooked directly into the back of the computer. The only reason I don't think a powered hub will help is that the hub is working all the way until windows takes over during start up. I can see the light on the sound card is on and then it's like windows resets the usb devices and sometimes they come back on and sometimes they don't. I saw a powered hub that drew power from a second usb cable-this solution would be easier than having to scab in something for +5 volt, but I'm guessing if I'm not getting power to the hub from one usb port that I probably wouldn't get anything from a second.

It's a PW style that came with my Cubid 3677 case. I guess this could be a problem, but I'm within the power limits of the power supply. It's not like I have a problem running everything once the usb devices get connected. It's just that half of the time the computer starts up and I have usb devices and the other half of the time I have to unplug/plug the hub cable.

You're absolutely correct. I bit the bullet and spent $30 on a "powered" hub and my problem has gone away. I bought a Targus USB 2.0 hub from BestBuy. The reason I chose this hub was because power is supplied by using a second USB port on the computer. Anyway, it's worked perfect so far.

Not sure if this applies or is useful: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=298
Under Win2000/XP: This patch will save all register values in the memory before a system enters Stand By mode and then restore those registers when the systems resumes. This therefore avoids the situation where USB devices are not ready for use after a resume from Stand By mode.
