Cool 4" LCD Screen for $179 at Toys R Us

I happened to be in Toys R Us yesterday buying myself some Hot Wheels cars and just happened to head to the video game section. Sitting on the shelf was a small LCD screen, in a flip up white case. It looked to be about 4", and has built in speakers with standard A/V inputs. The best part? The price is $179! I'm sure that if you don't like the case, you could remove it and use only the screen. But for $179 Canadian, it seems like a bargain to me. I'll be getting one as soon as I have an extra $200...

Oops, forgot to mention the brand name. It goes by the name "PS1" or "PS One". Apparently designed for the Playstation.

thats old news, a few of us have discussed this before. Most of the add on screens are 5inch tho.... if your paying that much for a 4inch screen I would be looking around....

im personally going for a 5.6inch NESA screen..... they have a website...

    Cool

SurfinCajun: Nope, the one I saw was much more compact, and square.

Everyone else: I was unaware that LCDs went so cheaply on eBay. As mentioned in my signature, I do not have a display of any kind so I never did pay attention to to the going rates of LCDs.

The problem is that a $80 screen on E-Bay would end up costing more than this one by the time you get it to Canada. $80 US = $125 CDN, plus you have to pay 15% tax on anything you bring into the country, so now it's $144. Add on the shipping and it comes to almost as much money (even more given what some E-Bay sellers charge for shipping to Canada...) I'd say buy this screen and save yourself the hassle!

also, most screens on ebay do not have an input controller, which is around $200 US for the only one I can find). By using the ps1 flavor, it's already got an ntsc input jack.

the other problem is that usually using NTSC input, the picture quality isnt good enough to be able to read text from a computer.

Those NESA things look interesting, any prices on those anywhere?

i dont know about your side of town, but in aust they are the cheapest LCD's I could find, and they look rather nice. Simple connections too, just a RCA video in and a 12V power in jack.

    Autobarn in australia stock them.
