I wired up the 5" NTSC LCD screen from EIO, but it keeps on burning my ignition-on fuse! GRRRR I am SOOOOOO CLose to making this thing work.... grrrr. It works for well, and then when I try to pick up the screen, the power connector (for teh LCD screen) shakes a bit and then sparks fly around and out goes the ignition-on fuse.
I was thinking.... for those of us working on front-end programs.... why not record a three-second .voc/.wav file of what album/menu item you're selecting so that you don't need to work on a screen interface. Sorta like,
[down] "Techno"
[down] "Rock"
[down] "Orchestrated"
[enter] (beep beep)
[down] "Benjamin Britten"
[down] "Ravel"
[up] "Benjamin Britten"
[enter] (beep beep)
and then it plays the album/selection...
whatcha think?
Free entrance to heaven? WOW! I DUN BELIEVE! JC!
rofl...nice try.

anyone got a deep sexy voice? hahahaha can we get barry white in here?
My player uses a synthetic voice to announce all selecttions and operations so I don't have to take my eyes off the road. It is fully configurable. Right now I have it set to "Sexy Telephone Operator".

No fair, I want a "Sexy Telephone Operator" too. What program are you using? I think I would be very interested.
I wrote it myself in VB6. There wasn't anything out there on the market that did what I wanted, so I just sat down for a few hours and wrote it. Besides, I was not content with just "gluing" together components like everyone else.Originally posted by blkdragon6:

The software uses the Media Player COM object to play any audio type supported by Media Player. Voice is provided by the Microsoft Speech SDK (free download from their site). The software is fully configurable, with playlist support and a few other options. It runs on the Windows 95 kernal, replacing EXPLORER.EXE as the shell.

Hey Aaron,
I was wondering if I could get a copy of the program? Also, I went to your site, you've done some pretty spiffy stuff. Giving me some good ideas for projects. Btw, email is dragon6@dragon6.com .
Since I don't program I guess I don't need the code but I would love to try out your interface! Can I have a copy?

Sorry guys, but I won't be giving out the program. The reason is that it might be finding it's way into a commercial product within the next few months (hint, hint).
Is there anything specific you need help with? I can probably answer all your questions about it, and possibly post code snippits...
